Risk of infection is higher in those who are more likely to be exposed to patients with infectious PTB. These include:

• Known contacts of these patients
• Health care workers, hospitalized patients, miners, incarcerated individuals, personnel working in jails or prisons and other groups depending on the setting.
• People who are members of socially vulnerable groups such as homeless persons or those who use drugs.
