COURSE DESCRIPTION & OVERALL GOAL
This half-day conference is in commemoration of World TB Day and will cover TB epidemiology in NJ and an overview of latent TB infection in adults and children.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This conference is open to physicians, nurses, public health staff, and other health care providers who manage patients at risk for or diagnosed with TB infection or disease.
WHY COURSE IS NEEDED
As the incidence of tuberculosis continues to decline, maintaining clinical and public health expertise in TB is particularly challenging. Therefore, ongoing training and education are important for healthcare providers to enhance skills in TB diagnosis, follow recommended treatment guidelines, and interact effectively with public health agencies.
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this conference, participants should be better able to:
• Integrate current recommendations for the prevention and management of LTBI in children and adults.
• Interpret New Jersey data on TB to help identify at-risk populations and incidence by geographic area.
• Apply the latest advances for assessing risk, testing, and treating TB infection to prevent the development of disease.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credits, participants are required to attend the entire conference and complete an evaluation. Participants will be asked to complete a follow-up evaluation within 1 month of the conference.
