Anti-TB chemotherapy is well tolerated by children and teenagers and categories of TB treatment are similar to those for adults. Once TB has been diagnosed in a child, the TB specialist will determine the appropriate regimen and dose based on weight as there are differences in dosing for adults and children. In principle, most first-line anti-TB drugs (rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide and ethambutol) can be used safely during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. |
