Dosing Frequency for New TB Patients

Regimens that provide doses three times weekly during the continuation phase have shown to be as effective as regimens providing daily doses except among individuals with advanced HIV infection.

However, the use of twice-weekly intermittent regimens is not recommended by WHO because if a patient does not take one of the weekly doses, there is greater potential for poor outcomes since only one dose is taken a week.
