Persons who apply for U.S. permanent residence status from within the U.S. are required to complete a standardized medical examination that include immunizations and screening for infectious diseases. “Civil Surgeons” are the doctors authorized by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to document the completion of these requirements on the Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record (Form I-693). There have been recent updates made to the I-693 form and several CDC technical instructions. The purpose of this training is to provide civil surgeons with an update on changes to the I-693 form and updates to the CDC technical instructions for tuberculosis.
