Regional Latent TB Infection (LTBI) Echo Series

COURSE DESCRIPTION & OVERALL GOAL
The purpose of this training is to increase primary care providers’ knowledge and influence practice change for testing and treatment of TB infection. Topics to be covered will include risk-based screening, available diagnostic tests and interpretation, treatment options, approaches for monitoring and managing patients during treatment, and pediatric considerations for testing and treating LTBI in children. This education series will include a total of 6 webinars and each session will feature a 15- minute didactic session followed by participant-led case presentations and discussion among the network of primary care providers. The series is in collaboration with Brown University.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This webinar series is open to primary care providers and nurse practitioners who are involved in the care of high risk populations to test and treat latent TB infection in primary care.

OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this conference, participants should be better able to:

  • Explain the rationale for increased focus on identifying and treating TB infection to sustain progress toward TB elimination in the US.
  • Identify priority populations who should be screened for TB infection based on risk.
  • Select appropriate tests for LTBI screening and interpret results within the context of the individual patient.
  • Implement shorter regimens to increase treatment completion among patients with TB infection.
  • Outline the diagnosis and treatment of LTBI in children to prevent increased morbidity and mortality.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credits, participants are required to attend live webinar sessions and complete an evaluation form.
