Dates: October 26 and November 2, 2022
Time: 10:00 am - 12:30 pm ET

COURSE DESCRIPTION & OVERALL GOAL
The purpose of this training is to strengthen providers’ knowledge of TB diagnosis, treatment, and management. The virtual conference will provide an opportunity to discuss current and emerging issues in TB, as well as perspectives for the resolution of challenges in the management of complex TB cases. Topics will include a review of the current state of TB within Massachusetts (MA), management of TB disease in children, testing and evaluation of child contacts, and use of window prophylaxis in children. The format will include a combination of lectures and case-based discussions.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
The course is designed for physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals who are actively involved in the diagnosis and management of TB patients.

WHY COURSE IS NEEDED
This training is needed to introduce the fundamental concepts of pediatric TB involved in TB prevention and control. Due to a recent pediatric investigation in MA it was found that training in pediatric TB is necessary. This webinar series will be an opportunity to learn from pediatric TB experts in the region and share experiences and challenges with colleagues.

OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this series, participants should be better able to:

  • Discuss clinical presentation of tuberculosis in children.
  • Describe screening strategies for pediatric latent TB infection.
  • Apply the elements and activities of TB contact investigations along the care cascade including Window Prophylaxis.
  • Implement strategies and best practices in providing TB case management for children.
