COURSE DESCRIPTION & OVERALL GOAL
This conference aims to strengthen clinicians’ knowledge of TB and will provide an opportunity to address current and emerging issues in TB as well as promote networking among providers. Topics will include an update on the treatment of drug susceptible and drug-resistant TB, implementation of the new community isolation guidelines, management of common adverse effects, and laboratory advances.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This conference is primarily designed for clinicians (physicians, physicians assistants, nurse practitioners, fellows, residents) in the New England region who are involved in the diagnosis and management of persons with TB. Public health nurses are welcome to attend. Â
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credits, participants are required to attend the entire conference and complete an evaluation.
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
Implement current tools and patient-centered approaches for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of TB disease.
Integrate updated recommendations for the treatment of drug susceptible and drug-resistant TB disease.
Utilize new guidance to initiate appropriate community isolation to improve outcomes for patients with TB.
CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and the New England TB Consortium. Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
CME: Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
CNE: This activity is awarded 5.25 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should only claim those contact hours actually spent participating in the activity.
