COURSE DESCRIPTION & OVERALL GOAL
This course will address case management and contact investigation for nurses and disease investigators working in tuberculosis care and prevention, including principles of nurse case management, patient centered care, documentation, improving adherence to TB treatment, communication, and interviewing for TB contact investigation. 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This webinar is open to nurses, disease investigators, community health workers, and other public health staff who work in TB case management and contact investigations.

OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Define the nurse’s role in TB contact investigations, including the evaluation and treatment of identified contacts.
  • Implement strategies for addressing barriers to adherence in TB patients to ensure successful treatment through completion of therapy.
  • Apply a patient-centered approach to the prevention and case management of tuberculosis in special populations.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services. Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

CNE: This activity is awarded 18 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should only claim those contact hours actually spent participating in the activity.


COURSE REQUIREMENTS
In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credits, participants are required to attend the entire course, and complete an evaluation form.
