COURSE DESCRIPTION & OVERALL GOAL

This annual conference aims to equip providers with the latest advancements and best practices in TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care. Through interactive sessions and discussions, the conference seeks to share necessary tools, strategies, and resources to effectively address the challenges posed by TB in for members of the healthcare team.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This conference is open to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists, infection preventionists, and other healthcare staff who work in collaboration with TB control and prevention programs.


OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Describe the TB transmission and pathogenesis in order to implement measures for reducing the risk of exposure and potential spread of TB in the community
  • Recognize the clinical manifestations of TB that occur along a continuum between latent M.tb infection and active disease to better understand the applicability and gaps of current diagnostics and therapeutics
  • Integrate new recommendations into clinical decision making for the initiation and discontinuation of airborne infection isolation as part of a patient-centered for improved TB care

Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare
team.

CME: Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences designates this live activity for a maximum of 3.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CNE: This activity is awarded 3.75 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should only claim those contact hours actually spent participating in the activity.

In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credits, participants are required to attend the entire conference and complete an evaluation form.
