COURSE DESCRIPTION & OVERALL GOAL
This annual webinar is held in honor of Dr. Thomas Garvey’s commitment to his patients as a primary care provider and champion for TB elimination as a longtime member of the Massachusetts Advisory Committee for the Elimination of TB (MACET). The webinar will provide an overview of TB epidemiology in Massachusetts and address challenges in TB care and the importance of person-centered care in TB elimination efforts.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This webinar is open to physicians, nurses, residents, fellows, disease investigators, community health workers, and other public health staff who work in collaboration with TB control and prevention programs.

OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

• Summarize the current state of TB globally and locally in order to understand trends in disease
• Assess the role of person-centered care in reducing the burden of TB disease
• Apply person-centered care approaches to develop effective TB care interventions

 In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, Massachusetts Department of Public Health & Massachusetts Medical Advisory Committee for the Elimination of TB. Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
CME: Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
CNE: This activity is awarded 1.25 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should only claim those contact hours actually spent participating in the activity.
