New TB Patient Regimen

• When new patients with isoniazid-resistant TB start treatment, outcomes are worse than for isoniazid-susceptible TB, even with the 6 month rifampicin regimen (Ref)


• The most effective regimen for the treatment of isoniazid resistant TB is not known. In populations with known or suspected high levels of isoniazid resistance, new TB patients may receive HRE as therapy in the continuation phase as an acceptable alternative to HR.
