Xpert MTB/RIFIn 2010, WHO recommended the use of the Xpert MTB/RIF® assay, an automated, cartridge-based nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT), for the detection of TB and rifampicin resistance. High levels of sensitivity and specificity to detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria and rifampicin resistance (REF) Closed cartridge system that simply requires insertion into a GeneXpert machine. Similar infection control measures as those for smear microscopy. |
